Some of the Acer laptop users have problem with touch pad (trackpad), it will be not working. Here is the solution to the problem of touchpad or track pad in acer laptops/notebooks.

Solution to Acer laptop touch pad:

Look at the laptop keyboard, you will found a help key combination keys from F1 to F10 which will produce a menu listing several hot key combination’s with Fn key, for example if you press Fn+F7, it will toggle the touchpad to enabled/disabled mode, some one in your home may have pressed the combination of this key unknowingly.

If you don’t find the above solution then check the Device manager, which must say “Synaptics Touch Pad v.5.8 PS/2 on Port 3” is installed and working properly. If not call customer care and solve the problem.

If you still have the problem, then your laptop must have virus, spyware problem, or the track pad must have been damaged or any other problem, to solve the problem you must call Acer Tech support.

    just had a similar problem with my sons acer aspire 5335 laptop(vista home). simply went to start menu and searched for mouse, click on that, then select “device settings” ,then select “settings”, you can follow instructions depending on how you want to adjust how your touch pad works. For example select “tapping” then tick “enable tapping” and if you previously could not use your pad to tap and open it should work. you can also adjust way buttons are used, sensitivity,etc as well
